Here I am editing two photos out of my chosen 5. These are the only photos I wished to edit as I think my other photos did not need any unnecessary editing.
For my first photo I used the magic wand and selection tool to select the areas which surround the blue of the bike and the green of my father jacket. I then desaturated the selected areas to make them greyscale so only the blue and green are visible. After, I then altered the brightness of the greyscale area so that my father's face was more visible.
With the second photo I duplicated the layer and set the top layer to "overlay". I then used a gaussian blur to give the photo a slight glow. Finally I then altered the contrast of the photo of the top layer so that my mother's face was more visible.
I edited my father in order to emphasise the link between himself and his bike and to express his bold personality.
For my mother I edited the photo to make it feel softer to connote my mothers caring personality.
Here I am editing my photo of my personal belongings. I started with adding a soft glow to the image by using the same technique I used for the photo of my mother and then altered various settings relating to brightness, contrast and colour to achieve a warming effect.
I edited this photo as I wanted to connote a warm friendly atmosphere and make the image feel more homely.
